Wearing A Mask Is Politeness

Tuesday, July 14, 2020

No-one likes being told what to do.

If you tell people they have to do something, a percentage of the population will rebel against it. Case in point, I used to be against wearing seatbelts. Not because I didn't believe they saved lives or anything like that - but just because it annoyed me that they made this a law, just so the insurance companies could save money when I died.

I think instead the attitude should be about politeness. It's polite to wear a mask. You're reassuring strangers. Strangers that might be more at risk, or have relatives or friends that are at risk.

So it's impolite to not wear one, it's like sneezing in someone's dinner.
